Robert Oakley, CMS

Rob retired from the Coast Guard on Oahu in October 2012 after three decades of military service.  His expertise in the Coast Guard was as a lead Marine inspector.  He received the most extensive, state of the art trainings, gaining expertise in a broad range of marine inspection practices, such as Marine Casualty Investigator.  He has extensive knowledge and has inspected all types of vessels, from small fishing boats and commercial passenger boats, to the largest of oil tankers and cruise ships, including the Matson Line, Horizon, Young Brothers and NCL cruise ships  At the time of his retirement, his qualifications and experience had expanded to sailing vessel rigging inspection and training at a national level, and he was considered the resident expert on sailing vessel rigging.  He routinely trained new inspectors in the field and in classroom trainings.

Certified through ACMS, The Association of Certified Marine Surveyors, he has expertise in the area of commercial vessels, cargo & shipping, claims & damage investigation, yachts & small craft, tow boat & barge, and as an expert witness.

Rob is a member of the ABYC, the American Boat & Yacht Council.  The Council’s mission is to develop quality technical practices and engineering standards for the design, construction, maintenance and repair of small craft with reference to their safety.  The Council is the principal source of related technical information and education for the marine industry.

Rob’s Passion for “all things boats” inspired him to establish “All Island Marine Survey”, and is conducting surveys on all of the main Hawaiian Islands.   With his expertise, he can help to ensure the safety, value, and seaworthiness of your vessel.
